Sociology is interesting

Thursday's Sociology class is getting more and more interesting...
Each time the lecturer share about how to observe people and their behavior in the society and organisation culture..Its really an eye-opener for many of us.

We were taught to observe our surroundings..and do lots of read-ups to know what's going on around the world as things in this world is inter-related...Something which happen in this country might lead to another happening or bring about another effect in another country.

We did a little exercise in the class to help us understand what is individualism & collectiveness..I think..I din have the book with me now..so the term I used might not be that accurate..anyway..we were given a scenario...
If one day you and your friend went clubbing...both got drunk..your friend who is drunk offered to give you a ride home..
on the way..he was speeding...and accidentally knocked onto a motorist and that motorist is killed.
Both of you were scare and you guys went home leaving the car behind..
The next day, police came to question you and your friend.
Your friend's alcohol level went down..and could not be detected..and he insisted that he was NOT drunk when driving.
This case was brought up to court. You were asked to be the witness.
You were told that the only way to save your friend is to lie and testify that he is not drunk.
If you tell the truth that he is drunk, he will be sentence to death (murder).
Now, will you lie or not?
We did a little vote of how many will lie and how many won't.
I think for our class there are slightly more people who will not lie than those who chose to lie for the sake to save their friend.

This exercise is very interesting and is an eye-opener to all of us, as we see how each of us will react in the same scenario.

I am not sure what will your reaction be? Will you lie or not to save your friend?
If yes, why? If No, why?
Think about it.

How we human behave when we are in different environment.
What kind of working environment and structure and culture will bring upon different human behaviour. That's why we behave differently when we are in our office, in school or clubbing and even back at home.
I love this subject as it helps me to further explore into the beauty of this life..equip myself to experience the most of this life as I learn from the lessons of life and better understanding them.

Seriously..tho both my elder brother and younger sister are Senior Social Workers in Medical Institutions..I didn't have much clue about what sociology is about till now..even tho I often hear stories about things they face and deal with in their job.

Before our class ended last nite, as usual we were asked to do a short write up about what is one of the (Main) core value in our life?
Well...Obviously I wrote the teaching of Christianity, and explain a little on that.
I knew I didn't write well or express well cuz in class, you tends to feel tensed up and somehow your brain seems to get blocked..hahaha..
