Happy Valentines! 情人节快乐！

Today is Valentines Day, I spent my Valentines in the vineyard with "THE MAN OF THE VINEYARD". Hee...Its really a fruitful valentines to me!

Dun be mistaken, I meant I spent my entire valentines this year watching my favourite korean series "THE MAN OF THE VINEYARD"－葡萄地里的男人, casted by Yoon Eun-Hye (The wonderful actress of 宫 and 咖啡王子. She looks really beautiful here and the new cast is Oh Man Seok who is the man of the vineyard, not handsome but attractive.



As usual, I love Korean series more than any other series becuz they are rich in contents and lessons of life and most of the casts are fantastic actors and actress.

I learnt a precious lesson on this Valentines from THE MAN OF THE VINEYARD.

幸福是当别人感到幸福的时候，也不要感到自己不幸福。
即使别人可能因为得到你所失去的幸福而感到幸福，我们也要使自己幸福。
因为真正的幸福是拥有宽阔的胸径。
因此我才选择在这一天做会让我感到幸福的事，就是和我最爱的韩剧约会。

I have learnt a precious lesson on this Valentines from THE MAN OF THE VINEYARD (KOREAN SERIES).

Happiness is when others are enjoying their happiness, we must not let ourselves feel unhappy. Even if someone is presently enjoying the happiness which you have lost, we must make ourselves feel Happy.
True Happiness is to have an Open Heart (BIG HEART).
Only with this BIG HEART, one can accomodate all things and still feels happy.
Thus, I have chosen my happiness for this Valentines i.e to date with my favourite Korean Series and I am really glab I have learnt precious lesson today.

True happiness is not how much you have but rather how BIG is your heart! :)

I am indeed blessed with happiness! Thank you Father In Heaven!




Synopsis:

“The man of the vineyard” is a comic story about a girl from a big city who moves to a village to make money for starting her own business and meets there a guy working in a grape field. Dreaming of setting up her own apparel firm, Ji-hyun one day receives an alluring offer from her relative who promises her to leave a big grape field when he dies if she works in the field for a year. At first, Ji-hyun insists she will never in her life work on a farm, but eventually ends up becoming a farmer because of her ever complaining mother. Ji-hyun decides to try her best to achieve her dream of becoming an entrepreneur by inheriting the grape field, but being a farmer turns out a challenging task. To make things worse, the guy she meets in the village, Taek-ki, keeps driving her crazy. However, after many twists and turns Ji-hyun adapts to rustic life and opens up to the warmhearted residents of the village as well as ends up falling in love with Taek-ki.

Early start for Valentines

I am having an early start for Valentines since tomorrow is my off day..

Tucking myself in Bed in my cozy room..with fans and aircon on..
enjoying both red wine and beer..

And my date: my Korean VCDs (I just bought few hours ago esp to spend my valetines day with.)

Nothing could be better than watching my favourite korean series and keeping myself happy..tho not having to recieve any present or flowers nor having anyone special this year..but well..I guess I can still be happy doing what I like most..watching korean shows. I believe my true love will find me some day. :)

So...HAPPY VALENTINES EVERYONE..Okie..
I better get started with my Korean show now..

p.s. actually recieved my first valentines day flower (the pic above) from a newly known friend over imeem website..tho its only a pic but its the heart that counts..still feels comforted at least someone bothers to send me..even when i dun really know that person. Its sweet. Appreciate it. :)

My Fair Lady

I was checking out videos for My Fair Lady.. I remember I used to visit our National Library often when I am small, checking out their video session and each time I will watch My Fair Lady video in the library itself. However, Strangely I couldn't find a thing which can bring back my memory of that video. I remember that video then was in black and white.
Could I have made a mistake? But the songs are same I remember..
Could my memory has failed me? Have I grown old and forgotten what I seen in the past?

Oh..whatever, here is a little part of the video for My Fair Lady..Couldn't remember any part of this except the song..WITH A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK..

捞鱼生

Yesterday, got last min recall by dad to return home by 8pm to 捞鱼生.

Its a common and traditional practice for Chinese to 捞鱼生 during Chinese New Year to symbolise the bringing of good luck/wish for the coming year. As each lifted up their chopsticks tossing up the 鱼生 (mixed vegetables, cookies and fish with different kinds of seasoning) each say good wishes for this coming year like, earning more money, getting good health, everything goes smoothly and fill the year with peace and harmony and so on.

Little princess joined in the fun, watching us toss and eat, her saliva starts drooling..hee...



I remember someone told me during last year's Chinese New Year, when I ask him which food he like best of Chinese New Year goodies..hee..
He told me he like the Chinese Salad...for once I paused and trying really hard to think what is that..hahaha..
Yes..its Yu Sheng 鱼生. That's interesting huh..

4th Day of CNY

Today is the 4th day of Lunar New Year (CNY). Its also sunday thus its a day to be back to church to worship God and spend quality time with God our Creation and Provider, reviewing the past, confessing our sins and giving thanks for the blessings and grace for the past year and the year ahead.

Its been our church's tradition to put our offerings in red packets before we put it in the offering bag during our service for Chinese New Year, as we are pretty traditional Chinese Church. We even got two mandarin Orange to bring back each.

After service, our YF (Youth Fellowship) went to Jason and Cat's house (Which is Jason's Grandparent's house in Hougang) for Chinese New Year Visitation.
I took a ride from Jason to reach his place.

We were all hungry when we reached his house cuz our service started at 10am instead of 11am today. Some of us din have our breakfast I guess, like me. Thank God there was Chinese New Year goodies and we just help ourselves to it while waiting for Pizzas and Chicken wings to arrive. Finally the food came at 1pm...Can't wait...helped myself with the food first..hahaha..






We then sit around the table to catch up..Let's see who were there, Jason & Cat of cuz, Nic & Emily, Moses & Grace, Helen & Linglee, David & May & their son Declan, Jimmy, Rongfa, Shuxian & her hubby, Jason's little cousin, Cat's Mum, Jason's parents and grandparents and last but not least...ME..hahaha..

Jason's family members from his grandparents to his sister are all very humble, nice friendly and warm people. Always makes people feel so welcome! =) Thank God for wonderful people like them.

(Declan-David & May's son is such a handsome and good boy, everyone is just so tempted to carry him..hahaha..)

I was wearing Qi-Pao today..the traditional chinese dress with high collar..but mine isn't totally traditional..as the bottom of the dress is more modern instead of the high slit. I actually bought that dress two years ago for last year new year but din managed to find it..misplace it. And I remember clearly, when I bought it I fit in the dress Jusssssst...Niceee.... but today after I put it on..its actually loose..
however, everyone told me its nice and looks nice on me...fits me very well and comfortably...Cuz I lost 4kg as compared to last year or last last year. Basically I am a balloon..I gain and lost weight up to 4kg easily within a few days..

After Jason's house, I took a ride from May and David to go home take an hour's nap as I invited Chew, Melissa & their kids (my 3 godchildren) to my house for New Year Visitation. They came over at about 6.30pm. We sat in my living room and chit chat as the kids watched TV programmes... and help me to clear some of those delicious new year goodies I bought. I told them the new year goodies me and my family bought are yummy just that not much people came over only my relatives..so there's still plenty. Good thing the kids can help me to eat some..its a waste not to have people eating them when they are yummy..

I invited them into my room and they liked my room and say its so cozy..and comfortable...hee...great effort..hahaha..The kids like my room too..as they explore my room and my stuff..hahaha..





Melissa say, "Wow..you still have a huge tv for yourself..and its so cozy here.." hee..I told her ya..basically..its too comfortable here to go anywhere else in the house. Most of the time my family members will just tuck themselve into my room onto my bed and we watch tv and sit on my bed to chat together...its so cozy and comfortable.. :)

Then we flipped thru some of the old pics we took years back esp when the kids of really small. I even showed them those in my photo frame which I have in my room. Melissa told the kids..telling them ..see Gan ma (god ma) put so many pics of your guys in her room..more than mummy..hahaha... :P

Its a wonderful time we have together..
Time flies..its time for them to go home as tomorrow we will all be back to work..
but HEY...Chinese New Year is not over yet..

Chinese New Year has 15 days...so there are 11 more days to go..you are welcome to pop by my house to visit during the next 11 days..just give me a call okie.. hee..

Happy New Year! And yes...let's prepare our hearts to get back to work tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the brand new start for a brand new lunar year!

Red packets for my godchildren

Once a year, I will prepare red packets for my god-children, tho I am not married but since they are my god-children I got this chance to give red packets too. I am really happy each time when I prepare and give them the red packets and wish you blessings of the new year.

I am blessed with 4 god children tho I still didn't managed to have children of my own since I am not marry. :) I am really thankful for this honour given by my buddies. All my god children are really good boys and girls...hee...

Chinese New Year Marathon

I did a Chinese New Year Marathon today...

Started off with a 2 hours Train ride to my aunties house at the other end of Singapore. Left home about 4pm with parents and my youngest brother. Reached there at 6pm.Had a quick dinner there enjoying the wonderful soup cooked by my Aunty Jenny then left with my brother in a rush at 6.30pm to start our movie marathon with my sister at TM GV Cinema at 8.25pm.

Decided to take Train to Woodlands to take an express bus and then change to another bus to reach TM for our movie. Managed to reach there just in time.



First movie we watch is Kung Fu Dunk..

Shi-Jie (Jay Chou) is a brilliant martial artist from the Kungfu School. The master of the school adopted him as a baby, when he was found abandoned in the woods. His remarkable kungfu skills stem from his innate intuition and ability to read his opponents moves. One day, he encounters a group of youths playing basketball and shows off how easy it is for him, with his martial arts training, to do a Slam Dunk. Watching him was Chen-Li (Eric Tsang), a shrewd businessman, who decides that he would exploit Shi-Jie to make some money. Under the guise of helping Shi-Jie to find his family, he recruits him to play varsity basketball at the local university.

Really enjoyed the show. Tho it was one of the show to my surprise which has the least number of people watching. However, that doesn't affect my rating.
Seriously I am tempted to give an applause straight after the movie ends..cuz putting the side effect aside, I think this show has lots of wonderful elements. Its interesting, funny yet filled with human touch... really touches my heart ..esp the part whereby he thot he founded his parents and the part whereby he remembers how Chen-Li helped him and stand by him, did not sell him for money..These really touches my heart. I must say, I never know Jay Chou could be such a good actor. He holds the character very well and moved my heart. I always thot Jay Chou only knows how to act cool and has no facial expressions like he usually appears to us. I am wrong I must say... WOW!!!

Thereafter, We carried on with another show which is another local directed by Jack Neo, Mediacorp Raintree production called Ah Long Pte Ltd.

Ah Long Pte Ltd is a light-hearted black comedy about the triad world and the money-lending business. The movie takes on a humorous and sarcastic treatment on the underworld. It depicts how a young lady, Li Hua (Fann Wong) tries to restructure her money-lending triad into a professional and 'loving' triad that stands against the use of violence after she takes over from her triad leader (Richard Low) who retired. Her various restructuring plans (which are no doubt very creative) bring about hilarious results.

Li Hua tired of her mother's constant nagging to get married, she finally relented and proposed to Mr Fang (Mark Lee), an effeminate dance instructor cum image stylist. Surprised to many and even herself, Mr Fang accepted the proposal. The unusual union, despite the misfits, soon blossom into love.



*** I give this show 4/5 claps as well for the creativity in this show.
I must say, Well Done Jack Neo! At the point of artistic and creativity's view, you won my vote!!!
This movie is entertaining, funny, creative yet able to bring out the Singaporean style and taste. Jack I must say has capture the little details in life many times and making the most out of it. Its often the details in life which we often missed out and take for granted. However, Jack has capture these and make great use of it and even bringing it to another level of creativity. I guess this is one similar thing between me and him. We both enjoys looking into the simplicity of life and the details of our everyday life which many times have been taken for granted..
The only different is, I bring out in writing and in my design whereas he brings out in his movie.

I always has faith in Director Jack Neo, not becuz he is my distance relative (we share the same aunty, uncle and cousins) but rather, I sees his talents and since my school days, I always pray that one day he will make it and his talents will bring him to a higher level. I am really happy for him. Well Done Jack!

I am impressed by they came out with the positive image(side) of even the Loan Shark. Its impressive...it require lots of creativity..its part of our graphic designer's job too..when coming to think of a design of a product. We are force and trained to do so. I am even impressed by they even bring out Jackson Pollock in this movie. I used to do research and design a product to bring out Jackson Pollock during my Design History Assignment. Yes, in fact Jackson Pollock is the First Abstract Artist in design History and he specialise in using drip painting for his master. Its not on normal size canvas but on Huge floor size canvas.

Anyway, back to where I was, thus it shows they did good research for this show. I must say I am impress by many parts of this show. Mainly the creativity and even the song for this show, its well done! Impressive and catchy. But of cuz there are parts which still need some improvement as well and not very healthy as well when its talking about the positive of Loan Shark. Mark Lee holds the role very well in this movie and so did Fann Wong. Great job Mark Lee! Keep it up!

I should say, the two movies satisfied my movie appetite. Yes, Local production has improved. However, one thing which I am kind of disappointed is, where so much creativity has being involved, they shouldn't ended it with a scene copied from the Korean Gangster show, I am kind of disappointed esp the ending of the movie isn't very good. A great show at least should has a great start, a climax and a good ending...This show..no..climax..and no good ending..but deserve my claps becuz of the creativity involved.

2008 CNY DAY1

"恭喜发财，红包拿来!"
hee..Still remember..we used to say this jokingly when we were young..(For those who doesn't read Chinese..this phrase meanings..Congrate and wishing you Prosperous and give me Red Packet).

Its our culture and custom for the married ones to give red packet with money - dollars in multiples of 2 like $2, $4, $6, $8, $10, $50 etc.
Thus as long as you are not marry..you are entitled to that. But if you are married you have to give red packet to the single ones and the babies esp. So if you have a baby, you sort of earn it back a little..hahaha..

新年蒙恩又蒙福！！！
Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Its really a blessing to be a chinese, cuz we have two new years to celebrate.

I love Chinese New Year and always enjoys Chinese New Year.
I used to have phobia like many single people do...
afraid to face the questions of when are you getting married..when are you finding a boyfriend..dun be so chosey..and weirdest of all is they say "I always see you with different men." Which is really strange...I never even notice I am always with different guys. Ha..I think they probably saw me and another guy but didn't see that there is the guy's wife also hahaha..as most of my guy friends are married and even have children.

I love Chinese New Year becuz its the time for me to do fashion show. Since young, Chinese New Year is the only occasion I specially dress up and be different from people. Most well-dress and outstanding among the crowd.
Each time I enters a house or meets my relatives, aunties and uncles..they will say one thing for sure...Wow! You look beautiful! Always look so beautiful and outstanding. Getting prettier and prettier...(hee...which woman doesn't like such compliment right? hee..)

This year my cousin of my same age actually gave me a red packet (ang bao) which I say paisay lah...then she say..then faster get married lor... hee..I just smile at her. And my sister say..aiyah good mah..then we can continue to take ang bao..hahaha..And I say yah lor..hahaha.. :P (naughty right???) hee..

I spent lots of time with little princess (my niece today).. as usual...carry her..change her nappy...feed her...and then pet her to sleep...
But little princess today refuse to sleep on the bed..instead only wants to sleep on my shoulder...like this...





hee..managed to take some snap shot of her sleeping on my shoulder..see how sound asleep she is...while I just lay up against my pillow and watch tv...

Finally around evening we managed to leave the house to visit my favourite grandma.
I love my grandma very much and she loves me very much...

but she is pretty weak nowadays...getting thinner and thinner...can't really walk..
And she starts to forget things and people..so each time we visit..we will ask her who we are...she has about ten children..and many many grandchildren..but most of the time she only remembers me and my dad..my aunties and uncles always say that my grandma dotes me most..cuz I am filiar to her..when I am just trying to do what I can to help.. But seriously I have been too busy to visit her as often as I used to..
Still she is my favourite grandma..
We managed to take a family pic with my grandma at her place just now. (Just my family with my grandma.)



My grandma is the first christian in our BIG FAMILY.

My 弟弟, youngest brother Ding Feng got better today. His fever subsided. So we managed to get him to join us to visit my mum's side and my dad's side.
But poor him...cuz he is still having sore throat and he had to try all our weird remedy for his sore throat and fever..Hmm..he is a good boy tho..just did all that we recommend. Let's just pray that he will get well very soon to enjoy this new year with us.

Thereafter, we went home cuz all my relative came over to our place for New Year Visitation...they then ask us to join them to my Aunt Eline's house but we were too tired...hee..
