I am enjoying Sociology class on every thursday tho its very taxing...
But its very interesting and challenging...
Two evenings ago...during our Sociology class...
under the topic..The Symbolic Interactionist Perspective:
We are taught:-
People assign meanings to each other's words and actions --->
Our response to a person's action is determine NOT by the person's actions but by our subjective interpretation ---> People response to their own interpretation --->
People constantly impose interpretations on other people & themselves..and act according to how they interprete it & Often in studying of other's behaviour..
we often make negative judgement.
Our lecturer did a demo in the class to explain this:
He came into the class walking kind of cripple...
Then he asked us to guess why he is walking this way..
Some say..his right leg injure..
some say..he is trying to be funny..
some say...he is trying to catch our attention..
another say his buttock pain..
In the end..he say..no..becuz one of his shoes is loose..
He then explained..
From one action...
Different people interprete it differently..
Thus...he explained...how human react to an action or to another person..if not base on what the action is..but in actual fact.. it base on how we interprete the person or the action we saw...and from there follows our response to it..
And in the case..none of us are correct with our interpretation.....
And he farther explain..
Human often start with negative response and judgement on others...
After his explaination..
I understand and I totally agree ...
Cuz even myself cannot escape such error...
Hopefully...as time goes by..studying of sociology will help me to become a better HUMAN BEING...
Hmm...interesting huh...
Human >>> Being...
Being >>> Human.....
(when you break up the words..)
:)
Just a little sharing of what I learnt in class..
its interesting isn't it...
hee..
